It thumps, bumps and makes your cups vibrate.  There are 3 very loud beeps once your coffee is made. And if you happen to remove the water container while the coffee maker is still on the beeping is pretty unbearable.

The Cuisinart DGB500BK has a glass carafe that can hold up to 12 cups of coffee. Easy to program and you can have fresh coffee waiting for you when you wake up or when you arrive back from work. The Cuisinart DGB500BK can grind coffee beans and brew your coffee at the same time. Any chlorine from your tap water is eliminated by the charcoal filter. There’s a 30 second brew-pause so you can pour your cup before the brewing is complete. The Cuisinart DGB500BK grinder removes easily and all removable parts are dishwasher friendly in the top rack. One thing to note, if you are making less than 5 cups of coffee use the 1-4 cup setting to make your coffee hotter. Without doing this your coffee may come out cooler than you would like.

There’s a decalcification indicator; adjustable warming plate, 24-hour clock/timer for wake-up coffee, brew-pause and programmable shut-off time. It’s worth spending a few extra dollars to get a coffee maker you are happy with. No complaints here.
